Terms of Service
Last updated: April 29, 2026
By using Pine Straw Calculator, you agree to the terms on this page. They're meant to be plain English, no lawyer tricks. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll either explain it or rewrite it.
What the Calculator Does (and Doesn't Do)
The pine straw calculator gives you an estimate: bales needed, rough cost, cubic feet of material, and a refresh window. All based on the numbers you type in. The formula is the same one landscapers use on job sites, and it's backed by guidance from the University of Georgia, Clemson University, and the USDA Forest Service.
That said, every bed is different. Pine straw bale volumes vary by supplier and by how tightly the bale was packed. Real coverage depends on rain, slope, foot traffic, and how thickly you actually spread the needles. The calculator gets you close. It can't see your bed, and it can't replace a professional walk-through on a complicated job.
Not Professional Advice
Results from the calculator, the blog posts, and anything else on the site are for general information only. Nothing here is a substitute for hiring a licensed landscaper, arborist, or horticulturist when your project calls for one. If you're mulching around valuable trees or making decisions that could affect drainage, soil health, or hardscape, talk to a local pro before you buy.
Accuracy
We put real work into keeping the math and the recommendations accurate. Bale volumes, cost ranges, and refresh intervals are reviewed against published extension research and current market prices. Still, we don't guarantee that every number is right for every region, every supplier, or every season. Prices shift. Bale sizes shift. Use the output as a starting point, not a contract.
Limitation of Liability
Pine Straw Calculator and the people behind it aren't liable for losses that come from using the site: ordering too few bales, ordering too many, choosing the wrong variety for your soil, or anything else that depends on judgment calls at the property. You use the tool at your own risk, and you're responsible for your own landscape decisions.
Intellectual Property
The content on this site (written guides, calculator code, design, images, diagrams) is owned by the site operators. You're welcome to use the calculator as much as you want, share links, and quote short passages with attribution. You can't copy the full articles, scrape the guides to train models, or republish the code as your own product.
Third-Party Links
Some posts link out to university extension services, government resources, and occasionally to suppliers. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for anything on them. If you buy from a linked supplier, that transaction is between you and the supplier.
Changes to These Terms
These terms may change from time to time, usually because something in the calculator gets updated, a new feature rolls out, or we add new content. When that happens, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Contact
Questions about these terms, the calculator, or anything on the site can go to contact@pinestrawcalculator.com. We try to reply within a few business days.
