Privacy Policy

Pine Straw Calculator is a free online tool for estimating pine straw bales and project costs. We built it to be useful without asking you to hand over anything personal: no sign-ups, no email gates, no paywalls. This page explains what happens (and doesn't happen) to any information that passes through the site.

What We Don't Collect

We don't ask you to create an account, and there's nothing on the site that stores your name, email, address, or payment details. The measurements you type into the calculator (bed length, width, depth, bale type) stay in your browser. Nothing is saved on our servers, because the calculator runs entirely on your device.

If you email us at the address below, we'll see whatever email address you wrote from, and the message itself. We use that only to reply to you. We don't add it to a mailing list, and we don't sell or share it.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand which guides people read and which parts of the calculator get used most. These tools don't set cookies, don't track individuals across sites, and don't collect IP addresses in a way that identifies you. What we see is aggregate traffic: page views, referrers, rough country-level location. Not individual visitors.

Advertising

If ads are enabled on the site, they may be served by Google AdSense. Google can use cookies to show you ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the web. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings at any time. At the moment, ads are off on this site, but this section applies if that changes in the future.

Cookies and Local Storage

The calculator itself doesn't use cookies. It may use your browser's localStorage to remember your last theme preference (light or dark) so you don't have to reset it every visit. That data never leaves your device. Any cookies set by third-party services (like AdSense, if enabled) are covered by those services' own privacy policies, linked above.

Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA

Under the GDPR (European Union) and the CCPA (California), you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data a site holds about you. Since we don't collect personal data through the calculator, there's usually nothing for us to access or delete on your behalf. If you've emailed us and want us to delete that email, write to us at the address below and we'll handle it.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you're a parent and believe your child has sent us anything, let us know and we'll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy (for example, if we add ads, change analytics providers, or adjust what the calculator stores locally), we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be called out in the copy itself.
